Forty-Three Cities About to Get Their Kiss-In On

Great Nationwide Kiss-In

The Great Nationwide Kiss-In has taken the country by storm.  First it was just a few cities.  Then a few cities more.  Then it went international.  And now organizers are looking at an event this coming Saturday, August 15, that will take place in at least forty-three cities in the United States, Canada and beyond, with the strong likelihood that more cities will add their names in the coming days.  Kissing for equal rights is about to go viral.

The Kiss-In is in response to incidents in San Antonio, El Paso and Salt Lake City  where different gay and lesbian couples were harassed or detained by law enforcement or other people for the simple act of kissing in a public place.  Kissing isn't criminal or vulgar.  Kissing is a sign of affection and love.

And the cities participating are big and small, too, and in red states and blue states.  There's Erie, PA (a certain bloggers childhood home!); Athens, GA; Fayetteville, AR; Parkersburg, WV; Chicago, IL; Tulsa, OK; Phoenix, AZ; and even the Northern Mariana Islands!  Which means that come this Saturday, kissing for equal rights will be fashionable in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Watch the Great Nationwide Kiss-In's Facebook page for more information.  And just wait until Saturday, where images like the one above will (hopefully) be shared in nearly every corner of the Americas, and even beyond.  Check out the third video from the Great Nationwide Kiss-In below, too.

The Great Nationwide Kiss-In, including the same event in Canada, will serve its important purpose in that kissing can't call for police officers to arrest or harrass LGBT couples. Although it's wrong that the police officers harrased the LGBT couples in Texas and Utah, kissing for the event will be shown as a sign of affection. It's good that the event has gathered popularity because the event must well known in response to what happened to the  LGBT couples because of the police.
