Urge Congress to Support H.R. 433, the Stonewall Resolution
Why this petition matters
The U.S. House currently has a resolution pending - H.R. 433 - which would commemorate the Stonewall Riots, the 1969 demonstrations in New York that launched the modern day LGBT rights movement. The measure, introduced by Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Barney Frank (D-MA) and Jared Polis (D-CO), is meant to commemorate the significance of Stonewall in U.S. history, and honor those that demonstrated as standing up for civil rights and equality.
As Rep. Nadler has said, "The events at Stonewall 40 years ago had a profound effect on how LGBT Americans came to see their struggle for equality. Stonewall catalyzed gay Americans - and those who support their rights - into putting gay rights on the forefront, out in the open, unafraid and unapologetic. We have come very far in the battle for LGBT rights and acceptance since Stonewall, but we still have a ways to go. Together, we will keep fighting."
The petition below will go to your U.S. Representative in the House, and will encourage them to support HR 433.
